We are stoked to announce that Gilbert Medam will jam at the SFF:
Born into a family of artists, Gilbert Medam – while an equally talented painter, photographer, and teacher – is best known as a guitarist and composer who plays bossa nova and Brazilian jazz as well as his own compositions and improvisations.
During the ’70s Gilbert made his home in Rio de Janeiro, where he met many great musicians (Toninho Horta, Baden Powell, Dori Caymmi, Hermeto Pascoal, to name a few), playing and recording with some of them, and absorbing deeply the essence of their music. A decade later he found himself studying with masters of Indian classical music in Chennai and Varanasi.
Five years ago, Gilbert was invited to play his guitar at a private party for HRH the Crown Prince and HRH the Royal Princess of Thailand.
His love for Thailand has for the last four years kept him on Koh Samui, where he lives a simple life..
